Hot Spots: Yappy Hour at Rumor, Bob Sinclar at Wet Republic and more

Pooch & hooch: Welcome to Yappy Hour.
Bill Hughes

Yappy Hour at Rumor You probably hit happy hours all the time with your best friends, but how about with man’s best friend? This outdoor, dog-friendly event boasts cocktail specials (and water bowls for thirsty pups) and “Yappetizer” deals, so bring your pooch and drink some hooch! (Sorry, we just couldn’t resist.) July 19, 6 p.m., free entry.

DJ Jazzy Jeff at Palms Many recognize him as Jazz, Will Smith’s loveable, trouble-making best friend in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. What you might not know: Jeff has been making music ever since. Catch his beats during his Friday double-header, first poolside at Ditch and later on in the evening at Rain. July 20; Ditch: noon, $40+; Rain: doors at 11 p.m., $30.

The Crystal Method at Hard Rock Hotel The locally bred EDM pair released their fittingly titled debut album, Vegas, in 1997—more than a decade before dance music A-list heavyweights began headlining Strip nightclubs every weekend. Now, the hometown boys return for Hard Rock’s Nectar Music Festival party, with Larry Tee, Manuel de la Mare and Beej joining them on the decks. July 21, doors at 10 a.m., $40 men, $20 women.

Bob Sinclar at Wet Republic The French house DJ collaborated with reggae artists Shaggy and Sean Paul for his Made in Jamaica record—and scored a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. Catch his beats under the sun Saturday, when he plays a set at the MGM Grand ultra pool. July 21, doors at 11 a.m., $50 men, $30 women.

Little Black Dress at Blue Martini The Town Square lounge throws its annual LBD event Saturday, encouraging ladies to don their best little black dresses, receive a free Stoli Elit cocktail (from 8 to 11 p.m.) and enter to win a number of giveaways (including handbags and hotel stays). And. That’s. Not. All. A portion of the event’s proceeds benefit local nonprofit Opportunity Village and its annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run. July 21, 8 p.m., $20 men (after 11 p.m.), ladies free.

Above & Beyond at Tao Beach 2011 was a big year for the British trance trio: The group released its Group Therapy album and ranked No. 5 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll. 2012 hasn’t been bad, either—A&B recently launched the second leg of its Group Therapy world tour, which lands at the Venetian venue on Sunday. July 22, doors at 10 a.m., $20, local ladies free.

Knife Party at Encore Beach Club If you’re a kandi kid, chances are you’re familiar with Australian drum & bass group Pendulum. Well, they split up (le sigh), but vocalist Rob Swire and bassist Gareth McGrillen haven’t stopped making music together. The duo’s collabo project makes its EBC debut at the venue’s weekly Daystar Sunday bash. Check out recently-released EP Rage Valley before you head to the pool. July 22, doors at 11 a.m., $40 men, $30 women.

Revo Sundays: Manhunt Madness at Revolution The Mirage lounge puts on a special edition of its weekly LGBT party with a male model search serving as the main attraction. Camera shy? You’ll surely enjoy the eye candy—and the drinks, too. July 22, 9:30 p.m., $20, locals free until midnight.
