Hot Spots: Futuristic Polar Bears at Marquee, Sin City Brewing’s MovemBEER and more

In the future … Polar bears will wear leather jackets … at Marquee.

MovemBEER at Sin City Brewing Gentlemen across the globe are abandoning their razors this month, all in the name of men’s health awareness (and growing one seriously glorious ’stache) for Movember. The local brewery rewards hairy commitments all month long with discounts for mustachioed patrons’ first pints—and the markdown percentage (10-50 percent) depends on the fullness of your fuzz. Visit sincitybeer.com for venue locations and hours. Through November.

Kris Jenner at 1 Oak Kim and Kourtney have been clubbing it up in Sin City since the dreadful Keeping Up With the Kardashians first hit the airwaves, but why do the kids get to have all the fun? That changes Friday night at the Mirage, when the momager you love to hate and hate to love celebrates her big 5-9. DJ IKON supplies the birthday beats. November 7, doors at 10:30 p.m., $40+ men, $30+ women.

Brew's Best at the Village at Lake Las Vegas The biannual beer-a-round celebrates its winter edition in November, sans the chilly temps. A full complement of regional and local breweries (and other Southern Nevada booze institutions) will set up shop for your sipping, sampling and chugging needs. There’s also live music on offer, and proceeds benefit New Vista nonprofit. November 8, doors at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. VIP), $30 ($40 VIP).

Zero Point: The Journey Continues at Delphi Amphitheater The Zero Point folks introduced a unique party concept in September, with alternative health and spirituality-oriented activities by day and underground DJs at night. A smaller-scale version takes place Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning—once again at an unofficial desert location called Delphi Amphitheater, 45 minutes from Las Vegas—with expert-led presentations on topics like vibratory physics, lomi lomi and tantra, as well as techno and tech house DJs from local syndicates such as After and the Dancetronauts. For venue, camping and other info, visit ourzeropoint.com. November 8, doors at 12:12 p.m., $10 membership fee.

Slander at XS While so many producers and DJs shy away from genre categorization, the LA-based DJ duo did exactly the opposite, dubbing their signature, bubbly and melodic beats “heaven trap.” Get a taste of it Sunday night, when they return to the Encore EDM emporium. Dave Fogg opens. November 9, doors at 10 p.m., $30+ men, $20+ women.

Futuristic Polar Bears at Marquee The EDM act’s tracks have been featured and sampled by the industry’s finest, including DJ Mag’s No. 1 DJ Hardwell and electro veteran Benny Benassi. Fresh off some modest Beatport success with new single “Romani,” the U.K.-based trio recently embarked on a U.S. tour that lands at the Cosmo club Monday night. Moldovan trance producer Andrew Rayel headlines. November 10, doors at 10 p.m., $30+ men, $20+ women, locals free.

Nickel F*ckin' Craft Beer Night at Beauty Bar For those curious about Beauty Bar’s infamous brews-on-a-Tues bash who can’t hang with PBR (even when it’s five measly cents), this week’s edition gives you a great excuse to make the trip Downtown. Six craft beers courtesy of Banger, Stone and New Belgium brewing companies will be available for a nickel a cup. Bonus: Anyone with military ID pays half the cover. November 11, doors at 9 p.m., $10; $5 with military ID.

Yellow Claw at Surrender The Dutch trio is like a mobile Electric Daisy Carnival, throwing trap, electro house, dubstep, hip-hop, hardstyle and moombahton into its sets. That mix of styles got Diplo’s attention—he signed Yellow Claw to his Mad Decent imprint—as well as that of the bookers at Surrender, which hosts the act’s first Vegas nightclub set of 2014. November 12, doors at 10:30 p.m., $42+ men, $32+ women.
