Quick Bites: Randy’s Donuts, Bacon Nation, Bodega Bagel and more Vegas food news

The D is set to bring Bacon Nation to Downtown Las Vegas this fall. The casino resort’s newly renovated second floor will house the new 24/7 restaurant featuring all things bacon—14 variations of house-cured bacon, sandwiches in which weaved bacon will take the place of bread, bacon flights, boozy milkshakes and more. Chef Josh Green developed the concept along with the casino, and the restaurant will seat 120 with a private dining space for up to 24 guests.

Hollywood icon Randy’s Donuts has scheduled the grand opening of its first Las Vegas location, 2170 S. Rainbow Blvd. for August 16. The shop will celebrate by sharing a free raised glazed doughnut with all guests from 6 a.m. until noon on opening day at its 21st store, which will offer more than 60 varieties of classic, deluxe, fancy and premium doughnuts, mostly priced under $3.

New Vista’s final Wine Walk of the season, Sip Summer Goodbye, will be held at the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets on August 27 at 5 p.m. Guests can socialize, shop and sample more than 20 local and regional wines, enjoy live music and participate in a silent auction to benefit the local nonprofit organization that provides services, training and housing to people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southern Nevada. Chef Sonia El Nawal’s Bodega Bagel, incubated at Downtown’s Vegas Test Kitchen last year, is set to open its first stand-alone location in Henderson in September. The partnership with LEV Restaurant Group will be located on Eastern Avenue serving bagels and New York City-inspired cuisine.

Kusa Nori at Resorts World is launching a new happy hour, a late-night service and the monthly Wasabi Wednesdays event this week on August 10. Happy hour dishes and drinks will be available Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., including select bites and robatayaki and specialty cocktails, mostly priced from $10-$18. The new late-night service will be available Wednesday, Friday and Saturday starting at 10 p.m. featuring cocktail specials, bottle service and live music along with a menu of assorted light bites. Wasabi Wednesdays will serve as the restaurant’s industry-night party, offering food and drinks, music and more.

Wynn Las Vegas is partnering with Napa Valley’s Domain H. William Harlan for a new wine dinner series launching this fall, with each event pairing exclusive labels from Harlan’s wineries with special menus curated by Wynn’s acclaimed chefs. Priced at $10,000 per guest, each dinner is limited to 20 guests and will take place in a unique setting. The first of three scheduled dinners is set for September 10 in a two-story Encore duplex suite with cuisine by chef Mark LoRusso of SW Steakhouse. Peyote at Fergusons Downtown has created new menu items and seasonal cocktails. New dishes include the agua suave fish ceviche with epazote lime dressing, a prime flat iron steak with cheese-stuffed Anaheim chile, and roasted cauliflower coated in citrus herb marinade and Mexican romesco. New cocktail options include the Guavacito, made with rum, Cocchi Americano, guava, hibiscus, lavender and lime; and the Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, with gin, mahina coconut, jackfruit, hoja santa and pink peppercorn.

Osteria Fiorella at Red Rock Resort has launched a new aperitivo hour featuring signature items, new dishes and cocktails, wine and beer available throughout the restaurant Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Small plates include Sal’s meatballs, mortadella rotolo, antipasti boards and calzones. Draft spritzes, Negronis, wines and bubbles are all available, priced between $4 and $12.
