Quick Bites: Vetri Cucina, Proper Eats, HaSalon and more Vegas food and drink news

Vetri Cucina is set to return to Palms Casino Resort with a reopening on November 1. Chef Marc Vetri’s 75-seat, 56th-floor Italian dining experience was one of the most acclaimed offerings at the renovated resort after it debuted in November 2018. Closed since March 2020, it will relaunch with a menu featuring favorite dishes and wines as well as new items.

Aria is partnering with Clique Hospitality to create Proper Eats, an elevated food hall experience set to open in early winter. The 24,000-square-foot space on the resort’s second level will include a dozen concepts, including four originals from Clique, and the first few eateries to sign on are Seoul Bird, Wexler’s Deli, Egghead and Temaki. Clique’s Andy Masi has collaborated with Proper Eats culinary director Jason McLeod and A Perfect Bite founder Oliver Wharton to curate the experience, with design by Studio Munge. Tel Aviv chef Eyal Shani, known as the founding father of modern Israeli cuisine, will open two of his concepts, HaSalon and Miznon, at the Venetian in early 2023 and late 2022, respectively. HaSalon first opened in 2008 and currently has locations in Ibiza, New York and Miami, with more restaurants planned for Toronto, London and Paris. Its Las Vegas Strip location will be found just off the Palazzo casino floor, while Shani’s fast-casual pita-based eatery Miznon will be nearby, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night offerings.

The sixth location of Southern California’s Sol Mexican Cocina from the Xperience Restaurant Group is set to open inside the Forum Shops at Caesars this fall near the spiral escalator near the Strip entrance. The Baja-inspired restaurant will seat 305 serving an eclectic menu of organic, seasonal dishes and more than a dozen house-made salsas. Sol will host happy hour and weekend brunch in addition to daily dinner service.

Pizza Twist, an Indian and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, has opened at 9850 S. Maryland Parkway at the corner of Silverado Ranch Boulevard. Founded in 2014 in California, Pizza Twist offers authentic halal, vegan and gluten-free options of pizza, wings, pasta and salads. A ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for September 22 at 3:30 p.m. with a grand opening scheduled for September 23 and 24 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Resorts World has opened a new luxury bar and lounge, Jalisco Undergound, located underneath Wally’s Wine & Spirits. The venue focuses on Mexico City’s underground tequila culture and features high-end spirits and hand-crafted cocktails. Menu items include the 24 Carat Margarita with Clase Azul anejo, Grand Marnier 150, lime juice and agave nectar; the Black on Black on Black with Mexican brandy, Casa Dragones anejo and Meletti Amaro; grilled octopus tacos with lime crème fraiche and black garlic mole; and Hundred Dollar Nachos with suckling pig, truffle queso and Siberian caviar. Jalisco Underground is open Thursday through Saturday from 6 p.m. until late.

CraftHaus Brewery is celebrating its eighth anniversary with its annual HausFest on September 24 from 6 until 10 p.m. in Henderson. Guests can experience unlimited pours of more than 30 brews in the brewery’s outdoor space and food from local trucks GBD and Melter Skelter will be available for purchase. General admission tickets are $42 and VIP tickets are $70 and include an extra hour in the brewer’s lounge, food from Half Bird and drinks from Deadwood Meadery. Dig It Coffee Co. is set to celebrate its grand opening at ShareDowntown in the Arts District on September 24 at 10 a.m. Dig It Coffee began as a vocation training program for the nonprofit Garden Foundation, which serves adults with disabilities, and evolved to include this first brick-and-mortar location. Roasted coffee from Sin City Coffee and Beverage stars on the menu, which also includes peanut butter matcha, gummy bear lemonade, pressed juices and more. The former site of Golden Fog Coffee, Dig It will be open from 8 a.m until 4 p.m. daily.

Great American Cookies is celebrating its grand opening at 4990 W. Craig Road on September 24 at 10 a.m. The first 100 customers will receive a free Cookie Cake slice and locals can enter to win free cookies for a year. The new store is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

The Vegan Vibez festival is scheduled for September 24 at 2 p.m. at the former Learning Village space on East Fremont Street, featuring vegan vendors from across the nation, a roller skating dance competition, a fashion show, live performances and lots of food and drinks. The ninth annual Guinness Perfect Pint Challenge will be held at PT’s Ranch at 2430 E. Pebble Road in Henderson on September 24 at 6 p.m. PT’s bartenders as well as other bartenders from around the Vegas Valley will compete to see who can pour the perfect pint of Guinness Draught Stout, with Guinness Brewery ambassadors judging and the first prize winner taking home $1,000. Guests will receive complimentary pints of Guinness from 6-7 p.m. and $4 pints will be available during the rest of the event.

DW Bistro will host Ellman Family Vineyards for a wine dinner on September 28 featuring dishes crafted by chef Dalton Wilson paired with five wines. Tickets are $225 and available at dwbistro.com.

Shake Shack has teamed with YouTube series Hot Ones to create new menu items available at all four Las Vegas-area Shack locations for a limited time. The Hot Ones Burger is topped with Hot Ones Spicy ShackSauce, bacon and Monterey Jack cheese on a toasted potato bun, while the Hot Ones chicken sandwich features the same ingredients on a crispy chicken breast. Hot Ones cheese fries and bacon cheese fries are also available, and those looking to really spice things up can purchase a Last Dab packet, which contains an Apollo pepper sauce. The limited edition shakes currently available include Apple Cider Donut, Pumpkin Patch and Choco Salted Toffee.

Anima by EDO is now offering lunch service Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Dishes ranging from light snacks to larger plates include Hamachi crudo with aguachile and plum ponzu, green tartare with zucchini and avocado, branzino amandine with coconut rice and Brussels sprouts, and red wine-braised short ribs with potato mousseline.

Crossroads Kitchen at Resorts World is now serving weekend brunch and weekday lunch featuring new plant-based menu items by chef Tal Ronnen. Brunch is available Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., including the mini-bagel tower, stuffed French toast with season fruit, chicken and waffles with potato rosti and more. Lunch is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with offerings including the meatball sub, a BLT with blue cheese and herb veganaise on toasted sourdough and the Milanese sandwich.

Kumi at Mandalay Bay has revamped its menu with fall dishes, maintaining the focus on Japanese cuisine with a Korean-American twist through shared plates, sushi and sashimi, specialty rolls and more. New dishes include soy ginger tofu with tosaka seaweed, asparagus tempura, chicken katsu sando with black garlic tonkatsu sauce, watercress Caesar salad with parmesan dressing and nori croutons, Shio Koji grilled salmon, grilled eggplant with sweet miso and mozzarella and much more.
