Concert promoter and international entertainment powerhouse Live Nation has been taking over Las Vegas in recent years by bringing superstars to the Strip for residency shows at the big three theaters at Planet Hollywood, Park MGM and Caesars Palace. Artists like Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, Gwen Stefani and Lady Gaga have redefined Vegas entertainment and those headlining engagements are all part of the Live Nation strategy.

Kurt Melien is president of Live Nation Las Vegas and works with the venues and the artists to create these buzz-worthy musical productions. On this episode of All The Vegas, we talk to Kurt about getting his start in showbiz while working at Six Flags; new resident shows at Park Theater from Janet Jackson and Aerosmith; why Vegas venues are second to none; why these gigs are so appealing to many artists; how the nightclub explosion set the tone for the expansion of live entertainment on the Strip; and his dream picks for some rock and roll residencies.

EPISODE 19: THE VEGAS YOU NEED

Kurt’s pick is a true Vegas classic, the inimitable Piero’s Italian Cuisine near the convention center.

After he catches a big Vegas residency show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Mark loves to slide over to Cleopatra’s Barge and get even more music from David Perrico’s Pop Strings Orchestra.

Brock really needs to take it easy on the cheeseburgers but it’s a challenge because he’s become obsessed with the griddled masterpiece from the Side Betty Grill at Park MGM’s Moneyline Sports Bar.
