Who says punks hate school? Diehard local fan Joe Tocci clearly doesn’t; he’s rounded up a slew of his favorite bands to help out area students in need, at this weekend’s Toccipalooza festival. Donate unopened school supplies—calculators, pens, notebooks—and you’ll get in free to the two-night mini fest at the Dive Bar. The 14-act bill covers a spectrum of local music, from Fuzz SoLow, Child Endangerment, Bogtrotter’s Union, Columbyne, Sounds of Threat and The Mapes on Thursday, to Geezus Cryst & Free Beer, New Cold War, The People’s Whiskey, Battle Born, Spotted Dick and the Wylde Knights, The Gashers, Lambs to Lions and Purple Flame on Friday. Bonus points for wearing a Milo Goes to College T-shirt.

Toccipalooza August 28 & 29, 8 p.m., $5 or free with school supply. Dive Bar, 702-586-3483.
