1. The Killers, Imagine Dragons and even Panic! At the Disco might be more famous Las Vegas exports, but none of the singers in those bands can come close to the pure sound of redheaded songstress Jenny Lewis. Her voice is so good she made it seem effortless as she crossed into different genres throughout her Sunday-night performance at Brooklyn Bowl.

2. This homecoming show was the finale of a five-week tour, and it was all rainbows and sunshine clouds—literally. The backdrop of the set was a jagged rainbow, and Lewis’ white pant suit was cloud-spotted. The happy vibe of the set and the singer easily reached the supportive crowd, which was all in with Lewis and her five-piece backing band from beginning to end.

3. “And the talking leads to touching/And the touching leads to sex/And then there is no mystery left,” Lewis belted out during Rilo Kiley hit “Portions of Foxes.” It’s those kind of smart lyrics, along with her ultra-pop-friendly song compositions, that makes one wonder why she isn’t bigger in the mainstream. At the same time, it’s kind of nice to feel like she still belongs to those who go and find her.

4. Echoing the sentiments of the Weekly’s review of Lewis’ Life Is Beautiful set last October: big ups to Lewis’ sound tech. That person is masterful at keeping the sound as clean as can be. It’s impressive when you’re immersed in a show and still notice the technical mastery.

5. The Rilo Kiley cannon was well-represented, including “Silver Lining,” “With Arms Outstretched” and “Foxes.” Played-as-of-late Kiley number “Give A Little Love” was replaced by “Bad Man’s World” off Lewis’ 2008 album Acid Tongue, a sultry-smooth jam that would bring the house down in any back road blues joint. Main-set closer “A Better Son/Daughter” was a well-paced monster, continually building momentum as it chugged along. Giant balloons were batted around by the elated crowd as Lewis made her hometown proud.
