On the heels of the news that he’ll be playing Coachella, North Las Vegas-bred indie/R&B star Shamir has just landed eight gigs as support for New Wave legends Duran Duran on the group’s North American tour.

Coinciding with the announcement, Shamir released an angelic acoustic cover of Duran Duran’s classic “Hungry Like the Wolf” on his YouTube account. The XL Recording artist will join the multi-platinum group in Durham, North Carolina on March 28, ending in Brooklyn, New York on April 12 at the Barclays Center arena.
The upcoming Paper Gods Tour kicks off on March 25, with tickets for the new shows going on sale Friday, January 29. Disco demigods Chic featuring Nile Rodgers will join Duran Duran for 30 of 31 tour dates, which continue through August.
Shamir won't be onboard when Duran Duran and Chic play Mandalay Bay Events Center, but the North Las Vegas product will help open T-Mobile Arena on April 6, supporting The Killers with Wayne Newton.
