As We See It

Coaster enthusiasts save on El Loco’s first birthday

Why, it seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating the arrival of the newest roller coaster to complement Southern Nevada’s peculiar a la carte offering of thrill rides. Coaster enthusiasts immediately cheered Adventuredome’s El Loco, the astoundingly compact, nearly roof-busting model of steel delirium that replaced the Rim Runner water flume. By year’s end, they were declaring it one of the best new coasters of 2014, and deservedly so.

Maybe you need a refresher ride to see if it holds up. Or maybe you have yet to experience its stomach-ditching, 90-degree plummet, its harrowing, outward-banking turns and its gravity-defying inversions. Either way, the Adventuredome is incentivizing local thrill seekers today, which marks one year since El Loco opened. Riders can procure a 2-for-1 ticket deal to ride both the birthday boy and big-brother looper Canyon Blaster (each normally $10 for a single ride), or nab a free trip on El Loco if they’re wearing its signature black and yellow colors.

Or, if you’re like me, you might need the $29.95 all-day ride pass, as one El Loco trip leaves you wanting five more.

The Adventuredome at Circus Circus is open today 11 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, visit adventuredome.com.
