Goodbye, Super Bloom. Thanks for the memories.

We ran through your fields of yellow where the rocky desert terrain mimicked Midwestern prairies.

You reminded us of the joys of spring. Bouncing roadside and toward the mountains, yellow petals greeted us and smiled for photos. More than anything, you got us out of our homes into the wilds of Death Valley, where the badlands at Zabriskie Point invited us to play like children on the peaks and valleys, and the salt flats of Badwater Basin had us thinking about the chemistry of nature. We climbed your dunes near Stovepipe Wells and watched families sled down hills of sand as the sun lowered in the distance. After all of that, we headed back on Highway 190 where the cars were still lining up roadside for the last of the day’s photographs, catching the end of the season’s wildflowers.

Your once-a-decade dramatic flourish has us waiting again for the perfect weather conditions to bring you back over the years to come.
