More than two weeks after the death of artist Sarah Guillot-Guyard, "Ka" is returning to the stage at MGM Grand at 7 p.m. Tuesday. In a statement released today, Cirque du Soleil said the performance is to be dedicated to the 31-year-old mother of two young children, who died on the night of June 29 after falling 90 feet from the show's vertical stage.

As expected, the show will be absent the Final Battle scene, which Guillot-Guyard was performing when the wire cable connecting her to her safety harness apparently snapped or broke loose. In its place is what is described as "a transition artistic scene, the Dressing Ritual, that will maintain the storyline of production and its 90-minute running time," to quote the Cirque release.

OSHA continues to investigate the incident, the first death from an onstage accident in Cirque's 29-year-history. Cirque, not OSHA, decided to cancel performances immediately after Guillot-Guyard's death.

"Ka" has temporarily scaled back its schedule, performing 7 p.m. shows exclusively and cutting the 9:30 p.m. performances through next Sunday. Its regular schedule of two shows per night resumes July 23.
