Quick Bites: Las Vegas restaurants making news this week

Las Vegas is on to the finals of the 2023 James Beard Awards. The James Beard foundation announced the restaurant and chef award finalist nominees today, and locals among the candidates are Garagiste Wine Room for Outstanding Bar, and Oscar Amador of Anima by Edo and Kaoru Azeuchi of Kaiseki Yuzu for Best Chef Southwest. Beard winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 5 in Chicago.

Bardot Brasserie at Aria will host the acclaimed Chateau de Beaucastel for a wine pairing dinner at April 5 at 7 p.m. The event will be guided by Vineyard Brands’ Alan Gary and Charles Butler, while chef Michael Mina crafts a five-course meal. Tickets cost $450 and are available online here.

PT’s Taverns is offering new “Flamin’ Hot” specials throughout the month of April, including Crown Royal shots and cocktails for $5, Heineken pints for $4 and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos chicken bites with fries, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and a Pepsi for $15.

Toca Madera at the Shops at Crystals is now serving brunch Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., with signature dishes including Tres Leches French toast, vanilla cast iron pancakes, breakfast enchiladas and burritos and more.

Locale Italian Kitchen in Mountain’s Edge is cooking up new Sunday brunch specials and crafting bottomless cocktails to go along with the weekend fun. Available every Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., the brunch menu now includes a breakfast pizzetta with fresh mozzarella, bacon and fresh farm egg; the Locale Benedict with eggs, English muffins, spinach, tomatoes and Hollandaise; chicken and waffles with Calabrian chili butter and house-made maple-bourbon honey; and bottomless cocktails, including mimosas, Bellinis, rosé or Marissa’s Bloody Marys, for $25 per person.

Superfrico at the Cosmopolitan has unleashed a new spring cocktail menu created by Niko Novick, executive of beverage, and Mauro Villalobos, beverage director. New offerings include the Spiritual Carwash (Tanqueray Gin, Fino Sherry, Palo Santo and sage), the One More Time With Feeling (Ramazzotti liqueur, Cynar, Lustau Sherry, Rittenhouse whiskey and maple syrup) and the Make It Snap Pea (white miso-infused gin, Aquavit, Peychaud's bitters, snap pea syrup, lime and soda.
