Take a trip to Nevada’s western edge to find Fish Lake Valley Hot Springs. This remote corner of Nevada promises stunning mountain views, dark skies and is just an hour west of Tonopah.

A large below-ground concrete tub boasts impressive flow from the nearby source. Its outflow trickles into huge natural ponds surrounded by marshy vegetation that hosts an abundance of wildlife, including plenty of fish. The temperature of the tub hovers around 105 degrees, depending on outside temperatures and seasons. The inviting warmth of the water offers a delightful respite from the chill of the desert nights, making it an ideal spot for stargazing or unwinding after a day of exploration.

After a relaxing dip, head south to Gold Point Ghost Town for some history and scares. Originally a silver mining camp in the early 1860s, Gold Point was once quite the happening boomtown that included hotels, a store and numerous saloons. Mining operations dwindled when World War II began and most of the residents moved on. The Gold Point of today wouldn’t be possible without Herb Robbins who, with the help of his friend Walt Kremin, owns most of the buildings in the town and has spent years restoring and preserving what’s left.
