The Real World

The Real World

It’s about time someone tells it like is. Ironic, though, that that someone should be a prominent Las Vegas nightlife company. Whatever the reason for the sudden bout of honesty, Light Group is coming clean about our perception of beauty—“It’s what’s outside that counts.” A bummer for many of us but for some—especially those who bear a striking resemblance to a Barbie doll—this can be very profitable news. Beginning Monday, June 23, specially chosen ladies of the blonde bombshell persuasion will face off in the first annual Vegas Blondeshell Awards at Jet’s industry night. On Monday, July 7, one lucky lady will drive off in a custom pink convertible.

But while the Blondeshell awards will take three weeks to yield its winner, here’s a little instant gratification: The Bare Rally, a good ‘ol fashioned popularity contest, sponsored by JackColton.com. It’s like high school, only drunker. Voting begins this Thursday, June 19, at LightGroup.com/BareRally for the most popular of 12 charismatic nightlife figures and closes the evening of Wednesday, June 25. The next day, whoever has the most votes and brings the biggest entourage to Bare pool lounge at the Mirage wins a three-day cruise on a fully-stocked yacht on Lake Mead with 11 of their best new friends. Needless to say, if your itinerary includes Bare that day, you might want to arrive a little early to beat the stampede.

Oh, Audigier!

Sushisamba may not have opened this week as planned, but that’s not the only project that’s got us salivating, chomping at the bit for a grand opening. Hell, at this point we’ll even take a soft opening! Though it was slated to begin slinging high-end sushi and Robata this Thursday, (and subsequently bring the highly anticipated Sugarcane Ultralounge with it one week later), Sushisamba’s opening has been pushed back indefinitely while crews put the finishing touches on the intricate signature ribbons that will weave throughout the space.

We won’t have to wait long, though, as Christian Audigier (the culprit behind the Ed Hardy trucker hat phenomenon) will debut his club (a partnership between Pure Management Group, TI and Audigier) where Tangerine once ruled, on July 4. Says a humble Audigier, “I feel like I can do anything and this is just another facet of who I am. I have so much to offer this world from what you wear to how you relax, party and enjoy life. This will be an extension of how I do it and everyone will be able to do it with me. Let’s party!”

Shhh! Don’t spoil the…

…Surprise! Tuesdays at Pure and Wednesdays at LAX are about to make those su-uh-mmer nights a little more special. The Summer Surprise Series returns to Pure and debuts at LAX beginning June 24 at Pure with the spectacular, effervescent recording artist—well, that’s the surprise!

Live music performances are scheduled bi-weekly and alternate between venues. This means if you miss the impressive performance by so-and-so at Pure, you’ll have a chance to catch a completely different artist at the next event on July 2 at LAX, with subsequent events scheduled throughout the summer. But don’t worry about some random person you’ve never heard of crooning to the crowd. Even though we can’t tell you which A-list celebs will be taking the stage, we can assure you it will be along the lines of last year’s performers such as Fabolous, Too Short, DMX, Mike Jones, MIMS, and UNK. Don’t forget your valid local ID to get in free!

Brew This

Combine more than 50 different premium specialty beers and microbrews, an Aerosmith cover band and Studio 54 and you’ll have LiveBrew. On June 27, online magazine MojoRepublik sponsors “The Original Brew Tasting and Live Music Experience” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the MGM nightclub. Draw the Line, the only Aerosmith cover band that has received the Aerosmith stamp of approval, will perform, complete with a Steven Tyler doppelgänger. Las Vegas local band The Skooners will also take the stage.

Beer aficionados can save a few bucks for the LiveBrew event by pre-ordering their tickets online at livebrew.com for $35 dollars ($45 dollars at the door). The ticket price includes admission to Studio 54 after the LiveBrew event for attendees who’d like to stay in party mode all night long; a portion of the proceeds goes to benefiting the Caring 4 Kids foundation to feed Las Vegas’ homeless children.

Hef’s honey Bunny

Perfect that spray-on tan and adjust “the girls,” because it’s Bunny Hunting season. Ditch Fridays at the Palms Pool and Bungalows will be crawling (or hopping?) with Playboy Bunny hopefuls on June 27 from noon to 6 in the evening. The third-annual Bunny Hunt will be hosted by none other than Holly Madison, one of Hef’s girlfriends and reality TV star of The Girls Next Door. Eligible ladies are competing for the coveted bunny ears and to become the next Bunny to join the world’s only Playboy Club right here in Las Vegas. Madison will be personally interviewing prospective Bunnies while a special performance by the Shop Boyz entertains the crowd and distracts the Bunny-gawkers. Admission is complimentary for all Bunny hopefuls and local ladies.
