My husband and I both had dreams on the same night that each of us was driving too fast on a gravel road. I dreamt he was driving his truck with me as a passenger and he hit and ran over a young boy, but he ended up being okay. He dreamt I was driving my car in the woods. I went up a huge mound of dirt in the road, went airborne and was about to land in the treetops when he woke up. –Diane, 51, Madison, WI

Lauri: Shared dreams are not that uncommon and happen when two people have the same issue on their mind at the same time. As far as these dreams go, the gravel road suggests that things aren’t going smoothly right now.

In your dream, he is driving his truck, which means you feel he is too much about his own work and that is causing the marriage to be harmed, which is probably what the boy represents. The fact that the child was okay means you have a positive outlook on this.

In his dreams you are driving in the woods because you are a mystery to him. He probably doesn’t understand your emotions. The mound of dirt is the negativity that is blocking your happy marital road together. You drive right into it because you are probably the one that wants to dig into the dirt and get things back on track.

Diane replies: He does bring paperwork home that takes a lot of time. I do feel lonely and neglected. You’re right that I am the one who wants to dig into the marriage problems and figure things out. You’re also correct in saying that I am a mystery to him. He actually told me that the other day. I have never examined my dreams like this before. It is very interesting! I am also taking this dream as a wake-up call!
