Sing along with ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

Buffy! Live! Before Glee, there was “Once More, With Feeling.”

The tradition of troupes performing along with screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show goes back to just after the movie’s opening in 1975, but the practice hasn’t really caught on with other cult films. The folks at the Sci Fi Center are looking to change that with a “shadow cast” performance set to “Once More, With Feeling,” the 2001 musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Just as with Rocky Horror, local performers will dress up as the characters and re-enact the episode as it plays on the Center’s big screen.

“Feeling” will be preceded by another musical production from Buffy creator Joss Whedon, the Internet-originated three-part series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. No shadow cast will perform during that one, but surely audience participation will be welcome. Extra points for dressing up as your favorite character.
