“We would go down to Golden Nugget, where Frankie Moreno would play at the Rush Lounge. I thought the guy was tremendous, vibrant, very old-style Vegas but in a very upscale manner. Frankie’s now signed on at the Stratosphere and has a new album, Hangin’ on a Maybe. One of the songs is “Tangerine Honey,” and I thought, what a great name for a cocktail. So I came back to my head bartender J.R. Starkus and said, we gotta come up with a cocktail that will go along with this song. What we landed on is Finlandia tangerine vodka, Aperol bitters, lemon juice and mesquite honey with orange peel flamed over the glass at the end. Put them together and you have a cocktail that really sings. It wasn’t too sweet and had a good citrus intrigue to it, so it drew you in and drew you in. Frankie loves it. The first thing he said was, ‘Wow.’”
