PSY
May 15, 7:30 p.m., $24-$59
Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall, 749-2000

If you’re at all familiar with Cirque du Soleil, you know about its grand spectacle and larger-than-life characters. Now imagine that same kind of athleticism and energy on a more intimate scale, one that grabs you on a gut level, yet still embraces the awe of Cirque. That’s 7 Fingers, a Montreal-based troupe whose seven founders have worked in some of the world’s most famous circuses, including Cirque, before coming together as a group of “funky circus renegades” in 2002. They’ve been creating unique shows ever since, including PSY, which they will perform at the Smith Center on Tuesday. Set in a psychiatrist’s office, it’s a blend of flips, balancing, juggling, trapeze artistry, pitch-perfect choreography and even a bit of humor, all in an attempt to explore the human psyche.
