We’re so glad you asked. Yes, those are monkeys. And yes, they’re grasping goblets, a fork and a hand mirror while perched on an ornate chandelier. Huh? SBE Senior Vice President of Development Joe Faust says the design dates back to when the company took over the Meridien Hotel in Beverly Hills and transformed it into the first SLS. They wanted a vibe somewhere between the Four Seasons’ old-school luxury and W Hotel’s modern edge. That distilled down to the elegant yet playful illustration we see today, like a quartet of monkeys got loose at someone’s lavish dinner party and decided to raid the kitchen.
