Do six baby chicks in a coffin equal a lifetime curse?

THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

Dear Dream Zone,

I was vacationing in a mountain cabin. My husband left with a group to go skiing. I thought I should prepare dinner for everyone so I went into a walk-in freezer and found a woman's body chopped up and frozen. I immediately knew that I'd made a huge discovery and could not say that I knew. Everyone came back. The guy who invited us seemed to know that I had seen the body. From here on out I was devising a plan of escape.

Lauri: You are preparing dinner in this dream, which means you are "cooking up" plans or an idea right now. You are also devising a plan of escape at the end of your dream, so something is in the works! But first you need to get yourself out of a bad situation in your waking life. The gruesome discovery in the freezer is some element of your personality that you have "dismantled" and put in "cold storage." Your dreaming mind wants you to rediscover it, thaw it out, bring it back to life and utilize it in your current endeavor.

Anonymous replies: I have been in an awful marriage due to my husband's controlling and violent nature. I managed to escape him for six months after he almost strangled the life out of me (this is why the dead woman's body in my dream scared me). We're attempting counseling and reconciliation. I think the dead person was me, the me that he treated so poorly. I'm normally a wildly creative, loving individual and have felt dead to myself since I have been with him.

My brother believes our family is cursed. It all started on Easter Sunday in 1966. Someone placed a small, wooden, handmade coffin next to our front door. Inside there were six living, yellow baby chickens (they were the cutest little things).

At the time, my father managed a large number of employees so we figured that maybe it was just a bad joke, or it was done by a disgruntled employee. We never found out who did it or why. My mother ended up giving the little chicks to a farm and I really don't know what happened to the coffin. I had forgotten all about that day only to find out years later that my brother truly believes that the coffin and chickens were meant as a curse because things are always happening to the family, especially to him.

They aren't really tragic things, it's just that things never go right and there's never a positive outcome. I'll give you an example of a typical day for my brother: He orders red flowers and they deliver yellow. He picks up a part he had ordered for the vacuum only to discover that it was the right box but had the wrong part in it. He goes to pick up his paycheck and they can't find it. He goes to a dinner party and everybody is served their meal but they forget to cook his. He finally gets his paycheck, cashes it at a hotel, walks down the street to purchase some money orders and finds out that one of the $100 bills that the hotel had given him is counterfeit.

These are the types of things that happen to him every day. Even though he has tried to maintain a positive attitude, the outcomes always seem to be negative and it has gotten to a point to where he has me believing that maybe there was a curse placed that day back in 1966. Do you think that whoever took the time to make this coffin and put six chickens in it and leave it at our front door 38 years ago placed a curse on our family?

CURSED

Dear Cursed,

I don't believe in curses, so you're asking the wrong psychic if you want me to buy into the excuse that your brother/family is cursed.

What the cards tell me about your brother is that he learned a long time ago that he gets a lot of attention buying into this "curse" and it gives him an excuse to not excel at anything. The fact that he cashes his paycheck at a casino tells me a lot. That means he has opted against direct deposit with a company because either he cannot establish an account at a financial institution or he doesn't really think he's "cursed" because he's convinced that someday he'll win "paycheck poker."

The cards say that your brother (in spite of himself) is actually quite lucky. He's survived pretty well considering he's not living up to his potential. There is something for him to celebrate by the end of October. It will be an opportunity to change his life for the better. Please encourage him to be brave enough to do so. His karmic lesson is to learn to pay attention to details and with that, success comes his way.

Divine Calling

Ever since I saw the movie The Passion of the Christ, something has changed within me. I feel myself wanting to be more spiritual. I just got started in a new career, yet lately I feel like God might be directing me to change yet again. I have always loved children and although I have no children of my own yet, the desire to be a mother and to work with kids is coming through so strong. I have felt this for a long time.

I feel like I must be crazy to want to change careers again after spending so much time and money. On the other hand, if this is truly my calling in life, to work with children, then I need to do that if I am to find peace and happiness. The problem is, I haven't a clue where to start.

JS

Dear JS,

I see you working with one child at a time. By helping a child open their mind to their unique gift, you create a very nurturing identity for yourself. There is some credential you'll have to obtain, but it will be minor and relatively easy for you. Pregnancy is not coming up in the next year, but when you have a child, it will be a girl.
