DIGITAL TONY: Fall Heats Up

The clubbing just won’t stop

Antonio Llapur

Traditionally, October is a slow month. Sure, there's Halloween but that fun comes at the end of the month. This year, however, I've noticed the nightlife is busier than ever. So this week, I'd thought we'd play a little catch-up with what's shaking on the scene.

Not long ago, the OBA Lounge at Mandalay Bay's House of Blues was this groovy little spot nobody knew about. Of course, I had to spill the beans and now everybody's all over it. OBA is going off with after-hours fun almost every night. It starts late-night Monday with OBA Afterhours and DJ Scotty Boy's house grooves. With Rumjungle and the Foundation Room's Godspeed both strong on Monday, always expect a crowd. And don't forget Drai's is now open on Mondays, as well.

Tuesdays at OBA, it's Mezz-Merise, with house from DJs Krish and Chris Garcia. Mezz-Merise has other upcoming gigs. On October 26, it's Justin Hoffman; David Christian is booked for November 2; and Miss Joy is on tap for November 9. The fun continues Wednesday with old-skool, hip-hop, funk and top 40 from DJ Toma. Thursday, it's the eclectic DJ Mike White and Lounging Out. On Friday, the fun starts early at 11 p.m. with Jack Daniel's Whiskey Lounge. Then, at 2 a.m., it's DJ Scott Stubbs and Lust Afterhours. Doors open nightly at 2 a.m., with the exception of Fridays.

If you're in the mood for celebs, then be sure not to miss the opening party for Bellagio's Fix. Best of luck getting into this one, but if you're up for stargazing, you might catch Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paris Hilton, Mark Wahlberg, Fred Durst, David Schwimmer, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson and Michael Vartan (Alias).

Over at Ice this weekend, it's Stubbs and residents Mike Fuller and Faarsheed. On October 30, it's Ferry Corsten, and on November 6, Way Out West. Also Fridays, don't miss Shecky Green's Honey Jam, the best in upscale hip-hop, R&B and soul classics with resident DJ Justin Hoffman. November 10, it's the debut of reality show, The Club on Spike.

This week at Rain Nightclub's Drenched Thursdays, it's DJ Pryme Tyme and next week, DJ Rags. All this, plus residents DJs ROB and Hollywood.

Finally, you know those dy-no-mite Open Forum parties they have once a month at MGM's Studio 54? Well, you've got a chance to finally see what I'm always hollering about this Sunday: all the avant-garde and arty fun you can handle. Plus, you have no excuse—it's free for locals.
