PSYCHIC VIEW: Lesson for the Teacher

A forecast and advice for a returning reader

THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I was at my mom's house and my family was there. I kept hearing my cell phone ring and couldn't find it, so I cut open a little square out of someone's head and looked inside to see that my cell phone was tucked away in their brain. I just took it out and answered it. The same thing kept happening over and over. I laugh every time I think of this dream.

Toni, 26

Lauri: 'Tis a knee-slapper indeed! But this dream is actually about how you communicate with others, particularly your family. It shows that when someone reaches out to you (the phone ringing) you're able to "get inside" his or her head and really understand them. What issue is causing you to attempt to understand where others are coming from right now? Has anything happened recently in your family where you took on the role of "The Great Communicator"?

Toni replies: This makes sense. I'm planning my wedding and I've had some issues with my family. Some of them aren't happy because it's very small and simple. Lately I've had to communicate how I feel and how I want things to run, but at the same time I've tried to understand where they're coming from, rather than get upset.

I wrote to you in October 2003, when I was deciding about relocating to New Mexico or Arizona. Well, I found a job and relocated from Los Angeles to Albuquerque. It's been a culture shock and I get bored sometimes. I promised I'd let you know how it turned out. It was a crazy year, lots of stress with the new job and a boss who was the Wicked Witch of the West, but karma found her and she was terminated. Yeah!

I had a goal to purchase my first place by June; it happened in September. I purchased the building in which I was renting one of the units, from the owners who wanted out, so I have my first fourplex. It's been more than I ever thought it would be (I'm doing all the work myself) but I'm moving forward toward my goal of early retirement and going back to Italy.

I just interviewed for a job at the University of New Mexico and waiting to find out if I get it and if they'll pay the salary I want. Can you tell me if I will get the job, will they pay me what I'm getting now and is this the right move? Are you still doing your show in Las Vegas? Is it broadcast outside of Vegas?

The Teacher

There is a new job on the horizon for you, but I'm not sure it's this one. Whatever the next job turns out to be, there are three "gifts" for you at this next job. The first is dropping the assumption that people are going to do anything against you. You've created a pattern whereby you're the perfect candidate for a job, show the appropriate enthusiasm, and start with a really great attitude. Then, for some reason, when things get a little challenging, you go into the ME against THEM polarity.

The second thing you need to do is become friends with the woman at this new position, who'll remind you of that "Wicked Witch of the West" from your last job. Because we repeat patterns (or types of people) in our lives, I want you to learn the benefit of constructive criticism until there's no sting connected with it. Also, it'll be through you that this woman makes nice with the others in the department, simply because of your friendship and loyalty to her.

Lastly, you're carrying around a big burden from the past. This could be a love relationship that you filter all things through, or past work experiences. Take pencil to paper and write about how you let the past control your present actions. Start with the words "guilt" or "regret" and purge those feelings. When you've exhausted yourself on paper, sign it with this affirmation: "I will no longer allow any past experience or feeling to prevent me from knowing the joy of this moment." Sign your name with love, go outside and burn it. It's important to find a way to reconcile the past so it has no power in the present or future. Through this next job you'll meet a significant love. Whether you act on this temptation or not, this relationship will change how you look at everyone. What a blessing.
