Exotic ingredients spice up therapeutic rituals

Renowned for luxury lodging, impeccable service and the ultimate in amenities, Four Seasons offers the very finest without the fanfare. Ostentatious attitudes are the only thing unavailable in the Strip-side suites. Although swathed in silks and marble, the staff and facilities are always approachable. "An oasis of serenity," The Spa is yet another cozy corner of the placid and peaceful property.

Services, including traditional treatments such as the European facial, standard salt glow and reflexology massage, are accented with imported Asian rituals that offer an awesome array of indulgences.

The Bali spice ritual employs the invigorating powers of pungent poultices with a body mask made of ginger, clove and boreh spices. The volcanic earth ritual detoxifies and cools weatherworn skin. The Javanese Lulur ritual concludes with a wash of yogurt to complement a gentle turmeric, rice and jasmine scrub. Each ritual begins with a 60-minute Jamu massage, a meditative method that incorporates Hindu, Chinese and Swedish techniques. And instead of interrupting your Zen mid-therapy with a jaunt to the showers, warm towels are used to wipe away body scrubs and treatments.

The packages are pricy but certainly worth the expense. The Kuan Yin Package is a four-hour session that includes an 80-minute Jamu massage, 50-minute Bali sea scrub and the signature four-layer facial.

However, 25-minute neck and shoulder sessions are also a snappy route to rejuvenation. And 50-minute massages and facials are available.

The Four Seasons promises to please every patron but whatever your pace, planning is paramount and reservations are highly recommended.
