Get the biggest bang for your nightclub buck

Martin Stein and
Xania Woodman

If you've ever fantasized about having the cinematic experience of requesting your favorite table, now's your chance to make it a reality. We've polled just about every club in town to find out what the top tables are and why. Some are celebrity favorites; some are preferred by owners and staff; others are simply the best. We're also supplying the bottle price for the partier's liquor of choice—Grey Goose—but bear in mind tables generally come with a two-bottle or more minimum.

The Beach

Balcony Tables

Grey Goose: Not available by bottle

By far the best deal in town—when the balcony sections aren't reserved by bachelorette parties or other VIP guests, it's open to the public for free. The entire area can easily fit 40 or more but is normally split into three sections that accommodate 10 comfortably. From the perch, guests have a bird's-eye view of the dance floor, the bikini-clad beer tub girls, the stage bar with its body shots and beer bongs and the live bands that play regularly. And did we mention the word "free"?

Table 52

Grey Goose: $385

even attention-seekers can crave a little seclusion. Located downstairs by the dance floor, the caves are a row of six booths separated from one another by full walls. No. 52, the fourth cave back, is where celebs such as Britney and Paris find a comfortable blend of access and security. With enough room for six to eight hot bods, cave men and women—like all VIPs here—are greeted with a free shot designed weekly by Andy Hirsch, director of nightclubs, and bar manager Joe Barber. Bottles of champagne get sparklers, which make the customers feel recognized not only by the club but by the crowd, too.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 4455 Paradise Road, 693-4000

Cherry

Table 16

Grey Goose: $350

It's all about location at the Red Rock Casino's nightspot. Table 16 is in the club's upper VIP area, giving guests a clear shot of the centerpiece stripper pole and the dance floor. It's also about halfway between the unisex restrooms and the DJ booth, and about 15 feet from the bar—not that you'll need it when you have your own cocktail waitress. It comes with a "super-comfortable, extra-large couch," says manager Peter Nehen, that super-comfortably seats 10.

Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., 797-7180

Cherry Pool

Cabanas 1 and 2

Grey Goose: $350

With a removable wall, it's quick work to make Cabanas 1 and 2 into the Mother of All Cabanas, a supersize party spot that includes two lounges in front and is capable of comfortably seating 24 of your closest and most skimpily dressed friends. It gives you "the perfect view of the pool area," says manager Peter Nehen. Amenities include plasma-screen TVs, stereos, refrigerators, fans and private bars. And with two cabanas, you get twice as much. Who says bigger isn't better?

Club Rio

Tables 17 and 18

Grey Goose: $300

Lovingly referred to as the Marnell Booth in honor of the Rio's original owner, this showy, supersize double booth is located smack-dab in the middle of the club's VIP action. With security on both sides, this locale is as secure as it comes, ensuring no unruly neighbors will block your view of the stage, dance floor or go-go dancers—also conveniently located on both sides. Ask for it by name.

Drai's

Table 214

Grey Goose: $375

The Owner's Table (the one and only Victor Drai, for the newly arrived) puts you in the middle of the action: in the middle of the lounge, which is in the middle of the club. Fresh strawberries accompany your bottle of choice, with a security guard, cocktail server and manager close by, keeping an eye on you and eight to 10 of your new best friends.

Barbary Coast, 3595 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 737-0555

Empire Ballroom

Tables 2 and 3

Grey Goose: $450

A club that's open nearly around the clock certainly deserves two best tables in the house. At empire, those are Nos. 2 and 3, both centered on the dance floor and close to the bar and restrooms (after all, you can't buy Grey Goose—only rent it). Seating 10 to 12 people each, these spots put you in the thick of the scene, whether it's a live rock concert or a DJ marathon.

3765 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 737-7375

Foundation Room

Table 111

Grey Goose: $395

It's a tough call to pick the best seat here, when the venue is notorious for its vistas both inside and out, but VIP host Brian Klimaski swears it's No. 111. Surprisingly not the table in front of the main room's fireplace, it rests just to the side, just next to the steps up to the Media Room. The advantage is in giving you a view of the entire room, including the door out to the balcony so you can watch the comings and goings. "You can see the sweat running off DJ Keith evan's brow," Klimaski says, "and even you could meet a girl in this spot!" Those are good enough reasons for us.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, 3930 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 632-7631

Ghostbar

"North Big Section"

Grey Goose: $375

With Ghostbar's capacity at just 326, ultralounge real estate is highly valued, none more so than the 20-person table known as "North Big Section." In the back left corner of the room, the table gives guests an amazing view of both the cityscape from the 55th floor (thanks to the huge window) and Vegas' more down-to-earth beauties (yes, we're talking about the women). You're also a short hop and skip from the patio, and it naturally comes with its own security guard "for keeping randoms out and keeping the girls in," says VIP host Michael Bedrick.

Palms Casino Resort, 4321 W. Flamingo Road, 938-9999

House of Blues

The ODB Table

Grey Goose: $290.50

Not to be confused with Oba, the best seat at the House of Blues is the upstairs booth on the side of the music hall's stage. With room for eight to 12 fans, it provides unparalleled views of the stage. The full name is Ol' Dirty Bastard, named after Russell Jones, the OD'd member of the Wu-Tang Clan. Curiously enough, before the space was made into a VIP booth, it was the general manager's office. His name? Russell Jones.

Mandalay Bay, 632-7600

Ice

"The Patio"

Grey Goose: $360

Regulars at Ice knew this one already—they've seen owner Greg Neely, surrounded by beautiful young things, partying it up there more than once. elevated over the megaclub's main dance floor, the Patio has its own private entrance and gives a great view of both the revelers below and the world-class DJ booth just a few feet away. A lack of ropes and towering banquettes in the space makes it even easier to get to know your neighbors, who could range from Neely to Paul van Dyk or even a visiting adult film star.

200 e. Harmon Ave., 699-5528

Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce

Table 1

Grey Goose: $375

The number should say it all, but for those who require more convincing, No. 1 is the highest hot spot in Forty Deuce's amphitheater-style VIP section. Set flush with the stage, it puts ballers, whales and A-listers closest to the burlesque action and just a hop over the railing from giving their own performance onstage between shows. This was Jenna Jameson's seat of choice when she launched Forty Deuce's Silicone Sundays and where Jennifer Aniston rendezvoused with beau Vince Vaughn.

Mandalay Bay, 632-9442

Jet

Table 37

Grey Goose: $425

The table to be at in one of the city's newest clubs is on the far end of the main room, just off the dance floor, according to Jet's premier promoter Steven Lockwood. In the left corner—and in the shape of an L—it comes complete with its own stripper pole and gives customers a clear view of people entering the dance floor from either side. At least until the floor becomes packed with gyrating bodies, that is. "Most people showcase their girls on their own stripper pole, giving them a true feeling of status," says Lockwood.

Mirage, 3400 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 792-7900

Krave

Cabana 3

Grey Goose: $300

For those who insist on being in the center of the action, the third of Krave's five cabanas is the highest point overlooking the club's dance floor. even celebrities who commandeer the entire VIP area usually claim the centermost for themselves. "This is where we put our top VIPs, and they are always blown away," says assistant club director Ryan Smith. Boy-bander Lance Bass and boyfriend Reichen Lehmkuhl enjoyed the prestigious location during the CineVegas Film Festival.

3663 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 836-0830

Light

Table 20

Grey Goose: $425

While many might claim one of the tables by the upper bar, regulars to Bellagio's nightclub know better—and now so do you. Seating up to eight, this is marketing director Jake Saady's favorite. Located in the front left corner, it gives partiers a view of the dance floor, the other tables and one of the club's elevated dance boxes and stripper poles. Famous names who have planted their butts here include Mick Jagger, Dennis Hopper and Dean Stockwell. Paris? We hear she likes the one right up against one of the poles.

Bellagio, 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 693-8300

Lure

Tables 70, 80, 90

Grey Goose: $350

It's a toss-up at Lure, but as long as you get one of three large, center tables, you'll be sitting pretty. each seats at least 20 people comfortably, and all provide views of the dance floor. And naturally, everyone else in the club will have views of you. Wynn Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. S., 770-3633

Mix

Tables 100-116

Grey Goose: $350

Why have one table when you can have an entire row? The in-house name is Park Avenue, and there's a reason why this line of tables facing out on Mix's imposing view is named after some of the country's primest real estate. Where else can you look down on the Luxor's light, after all? THehotel's assistant general manager Steve Moberly prefers Nos. 108 and 109—we still get a kick out of the view from the men's room.

Mandalay Bay, 632-7777

OPM

Table R3

Grey Goose: $275

Table 15

Grey Goose: $425

Most recently, Kevin Federline and Britney Spears celebrated the wrap of K-Fed's new video from here. Request this spot not only for its pedigree but also its privacy. The VIP stage is about four feet above the dance floor and surrounded by sheer curtains to keep the stalkerazzi element out.

The lighting in each room can be adjusted as you like, as can the curtains over the sliding doors. But why shut the curtains? Seamless After-Hours

"The Tens"

Grey Goose: $375

And, since it's not roped off, there's nothing to stop Seamless' sexy female patrons from pouncing, either.

Tangerine

From here, you and 14 people you want to impress can enjoy the sights of the Strip and gawk as scantily dressed pirates and sirens wage war.

Tryst

Tables 540, 545

Grey Goose: $450

Right on the dance floor and close to the massive patio entrance leading out to the lagoon and waterfall, it has enough room for 15. If you're a big enough spender, the club will even rope off the area for you, and since buying Cristal is a requirement here, odds are you likely are.

Be forewarned, nightclub real estate this precious is available only upon request. But, says director of nightclubs Pauly Freedman, "everything has a price tag."

Whiskey

Middle Cabana

Grey Goose: $350

Anyone who's made the trek out to Green Valley Ranch knows how stunning the pool area is—made even more so last summer with the additions of The Pond and the second bar at the far end of Whiskey Beach. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the top seat in the house is outside of the house: the middle cabana on the terrace. Here, you and seven of your friends get a beautiful view of the Strip, two plush couches and even bottle service by candlelight.
