Mash-Up

Rockhouse Beachless, Vivid visible

Jonathan Fine, an original partner in the project, will take over operations, and significant changes are on the horizon. "It just wasn't getting the attention it needed," Fine says. "Beacher has so much going on, with the possibility of the Madhouse coming back and all, the place just needed some change in direction to be successful." (Beacher adds, "The Madhouse has no current deals with any hotels.")

In addition, the majority of entertainment has been shown the door, including cover band Tiny Kiss. "We needed to revamp the club from inside and out, both from a design aspect and the entertainment," Fine adds. "We are going to just really rock 'n' roll it up."

With the new redesign slated for exhibition on New Year's Eve, the Rockhouse will also come back with the new after-hours promotion 120 Degrees. The early morning hip-hop-fueled party is also reported to house "a very big DJ," Fine promises. "Jonathan is going to kill it with the bar," says Beacher, who has every confidence in the new arrangement. "His heart is really into it. He's amazing."

Fine, who also considered resurrecting the former Vivid space (in the Venetian) with the Fine Theater, has retracted the concept and will instead revive the club with more nocturnal ambitions. "We have great plans for the space and plan on it being back up and running very soon. There were some initial problems with licensing, but it looks like we finally have everything on track for another late-night spot." Doors are expected to open early next year.

PMG's New Arrivals

Not quite the New Year's baby, but just as cute and as anticipated, Vegas' next round of Pure Management Group-run nightclubs are on their way. And since the Weekly is sensitive to your busy schedules, we'll update you with the latest changes to the opening dates of some venues we've reported on. PMG's newest nightclub ventures, LAX and Roxy, will open at Luxor right about Memorial Day 2007, as will the wacky-tacky restaurant Dick's Last Resort at the Excalibur. Aspen 702, the celebrity-backed restaurant, arrives at Luxor on the heels of the clubs. To tide you over 'til then, their Lucky Strike bowling lanes and lounge rolls into the Rio in March.

Sinful Suds

Our finest homegrown stout stop is turning a year old, and Sin City Brewing Co.'s Desert Passage location will throw itself an anniversary bash on December 11, the party favors coming in the form of $1 beers all day. "Las Vegas has a lot of great beer tradition," said president and founder Rich Johnson. "It's great to be a part of it." The devilish trademark will adorn all four blends of the premium hooch, alongside the chic apparel line, professing proudly on everything from underwear to ball caps, "I Have Sinned."

His product already distributed in 35 bars across the city, Johnson is looking to add two more permanent tap stations like the shop in Desert Passage some time next year. "The response has been fabulous," he said. "People just keep coming back, and more beer is good for everyone."
