with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg Last night I dreamed I was on a plane with my sister and a man I am interested in in real life. He was surrounded by an entourage. One of the people in his entourage was an ex of mine from about two years ago. I began to worry because they appeared to be best friends. This particular ex and I did not end our relationship on a happy note. In fact, it was downright ugly. In my dream, I would look back to see my ex talking to this man and the ex would smile and wave at me though I never reciprocated. I felt bad things were being said about me. My sister assured me the new guy loved me. Angela, 29, Revere, MA Lauri: The airplane shows that you have “high” hopes that this relationship will “take off.” But there must be a lot of things that you fear will keep you from getting in good with him, which is what the entourage represents. Your ex is there because he represents one of those things, probably a fear you have that this relationship will end badly just as your previous one did. This is because he is something you need to be put “behind you.” You are also reassuring yourself in this dream—through the voice of your sister—that you really don’t need to be afraid.
