Mash-Up

Pure heads south

The buzz has already started. Lucky guests at the 2007 South Beach Food & Wine Festival will get a an early preview on February 23, as Pure Lounge takes up a temporary residence at the American Airlines Arena.

But Pure Miami is not the only out-of-town project on PMG's to-do list. Aura, the PMG nightclub the Weekly first reported on back in September, will open in mid-April at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Tangerine's GM, Candace Carrell, will take the helm at Aura for the first year.

Here "It" Comes

Now re-opened after a holiday hiatus, Tabú has announced its January lineup for the popular Wednesday night promotion, It industry night. January 3, hear DJ Hope; January 10, Miss Lisa; January 17, ROB; January 24, Scooter; and January 31, Bobby D & Too Kool Chris.

Manic Mondays

It couldn't last forever, but Mandalay Mondays has finally evaporated with dramatically less fanfare than it opened with. It seemed like a grand idea, granting free admission to Mandalay's quartet of cocktail draws—Rumjungle, Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce, OBA and Mix—with only an easily obtainable VIP card. As it turns out, the weekly event had but a three-month shelf life. Still, a spokesman for the clubs says all parties concerned were satisfied with the promotion.

Egg on our face

A clear case of mistaken identity! When local club-goer Evan Scholtz strolled into Body English last Sunday night for the XXXmas School Dance, he was oblivious to the stir he was causing. The buzz had already rippled through the hotel and later the club that rocker Benji Madden of Good Charlotte was on the move and headed to the Parlor. "Every night we go out ... it'll happen randomly," says Scholtz, a host at Capital Grille, of the almost daily occurrence. "I honestly had no idea whatsoever." Last week in Mash-Up we ran a quote which we erroneously attributed to Madden, rather than Scholtz. Should the two ever actually meet, Scholtz says, "I'd have to ask him if he saw any resemblance. I think it's just hilarious that this happens."

Just Don't Tell Nicole.

"Is there a DJ FM as well?"

Former Las Vegan Jordan Barry Saturday night as he checked out Pacha New York, the world-renowned nightclub said to soon be opening in Sin City.
