Terrazza

Rustic design, sophisticated cuisine

Muriel Stevens

It's an easy walk from the Strip valet entrance, through the casino at Caesars Palace to the Palace Tower where Terrazza Italian restaurant is located. This traditional Italian eatery is spacious and beautiful.

Terrazza is elegantly appointed with handsome furniture, works of art and many accessories. This is rustic design far removed from checkered table coverings and dripping candles in Chianti bottles, yet is inviting and comfortable with no pretension.

Terrazza Head Chef Vincenzo Scamiglia has created a menu with many pastas and seafood, meat and poultry selections.

Among the antipasti selection is a crisp crostini covered with charred cherry tomatoes and chives. Antipasto Misto includes a tasty selection of Italian artisanal cured meats, aged provolone and caponata. Spicy fried calamari, scampi and a daily assortment of chilled seafood whets any appetite.

Or have the zuppa di pesce, a seafood soup that includes fish, scallops, calamari, shrimp, saffron and tomatoes. Terrazza offers a spicy linguine alla vongole made with clams, chili and white wine as well as eggplant Parmesan, gnocchi, chive risotto with rock shrimp, baked shells with a savory cheese filling and yes, bucatini e polpette—spaghetti and meatballs.

Secondi, main courses, include such favorites as Dover sole with almonds and shaved asparagus; a 24-ounce prime, dry-aged rib eye served with porcini mushroom and potato hash; osso buco; a pounded Strauss veal chop; branzino (a whole roasted bass); succulent lamb chops; chicken diavola (devil style); baccalà (salted cod); seared tuna and much more.

For dessert, have the buttermilk panna cotta (baked cream) with fresh strawberries and poached rhubarb; the maple-and-mascarpone cheesecake; the warm, bittersweet chocolate caramel tart or the house-made ice creams and ices.

Terrazza offers dinner Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 11 p.m. For reservations, call (702) 731-7731.
