Mash-Up

Tricks and Treats

Studio 54 is throwing its infamous Halloween bash over three nights this year: October 27, 28 and 31. Friday will see DJ Leo Teo and D.J.P., body-painted models and the first of three costume contests. Saturday features DJs D-Mixx and Leo Teo. Tuesday is the 40th annual Beaux Arts Ball, when the winners for more than $1,900 in prizes will be decided. Proceeds from the ball go to help Golden Rainbow.

Dennis Rodman brings his own horrific self to Tangerine October 28 as a judge for the costume contest with $10,000 at stake.

At Pure on Halloween, Jenny McCarthy hosts DJ Vice and ups the purse from Tangerine, with $15,000 going to the scariest or sexiest costume.

Rockin' Girls Wanted

Thursdays until October 26, the Rainbow Bar & Grill is holding try-outs for its first Rainbow Girl. The winner will get paid shoots for the restaurant's ads for a year and high-roller treatment at local nightspots, and will be featured in the restaurant's logo. Models strut and pose during sets by select local bands competing in the Rock the Rainbow contest, the winner of which will have shots at a Palms recording session, a show with Sony A&R reps and a gig at LA's Whisky a Go Go. Girls, bring your own lingerie.

Good Odds

Social group GetOutLV is hosting a mixer at Hooters' 13 Martini Bar, an oasis of sophistication in a desert of chicken wings and Hooters Girls (not that we're complaining about wings and girls). The event is $10 for non-members, $20 at the door, and is at 7 p.m., October 27. GetOutLV claims to have about 300 members divided evenly between the sexes. Double-check the math and RSVP at www.getoutlv.com.

Look For the Stars

With the successes of Erick Morillo's and Bob Sinclar's recent Sunday performances, Tao is making a go of it with a new monthly Sunday night party, Global House Sessions, that will bring in big-name, A-list house DJs. "We want to bring world-renowned house DJs to the sophisticated Vegas industry crowd," says managing partner Jason Strauss. The night will surface this month, though the act and date have yet to be announced.

Party Like It's 1991

"I got involved into that pretty early on with DJs like Speedy, Chinaboy and Shoe. We were pretty much the pioneers of the techno scene here."

— Jose 2 Hype in an interview on his new DVD, Yes. The music video for the track "Yes" is getting rotation in Canada, Central and South America and Europe.
