[Gatherings] How to manage your time at the roller-derby convention

Julie Seabaugh

The third annual RollerCon already boasts five times the registration numbers it amassed last year and will host roller-derby teams from as far away as New Zealand. Held August 8-12, the bruise-tastic event features nearly 100 seminars, workshops, parties (including nightly shows at the Double Down) and, of course, skating bouts. Can’t make it to all of ’em? Here we’ve mapped out the most promising events of each day (see Rollercon.net for full schedules, tickets and additional information).

Wednesday: Fanbase Care and Feeding lecture. 11 a.m., Imperial Palace’s Pearl Room.

Thursday: Burlesque Show & Skate Gear Fashion Show. 10 p.m., Double Down.

Friday: Black and Blue Ball. 9 p.m., Imperial Palace.

Saturday: Roller Derby & The Law lecture. 3:30 p.m., Imperial Palace’s Fuji Room.

Sunday: Yoga. 9:30 a.m., Imperial Palace pool.
