Tinsley Ellis

Moment of Truth **1/2

The latest album from 50-year-old modern bluesman Ellis is predictably professional—sounding not unlike 1990s-era Robert Cray—but largely fails to provide convincing evidence as to why the Atlanta native is currently one of the Southern jam scene’s favorite live players. Acoustic track “Shadow of Doubt” closes the disc in a spooky, “Can’t Find My Way Home”-esque vein, but the other 11 cuts mostly just blend together. –SP
