Not all of them are worth telling

Joshua Longobardy

With the news that the forthcoming memoirs from Las Vegas icons Siegfried and Roy are due out early next year, according to Review-Journal gossip-monger Norm Clarke, we got to thinking about prominent people with close affiliations to our town and about whom among them we’d like to see write a book about none other than themselves.

It turned out to be a process of elimination, because while some already have written autobiographies (or are in the process, like Andre Agassi), others, we hope, never will.

Already out

• Basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian (Runnin’ Rebel)

• Rat Pack entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. (Why Me?)

• Howard Hughes’ right-hand man Robert Maheu (Next to Hughes)

• Hole-in-the-Wall mobster Frank Cullotta (Cullotta)

• Porn star Jenna Jameson (How to Make Love Like a Porn Star)

Never want to read

• Oscar Goodman (Would manage to make even memoirs seem narcissistic)

• R-J publisher Sherman Frederick (Already exposes more than we care to see in his Sunday column)

• Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal (Pileggi’s Casino says it all)

• Bob Stupak (No explanation needed)

Would like to see

• Sixth richest man in the world Sheldon Adelson

• G-Sting star Mike Galardi

• Local tycoons the Fertitta brothers

• The one and only Mike Tyson

• Inexhaustible Bob Bailey
