Week: July 19-25

1.

Punk rockers, bobblehead collectors and nudists, unite! Be one of the first 100 through the Double Down’s door and receive your very own permanent—and naked—keepsake from Saturday night’s Ruckusfest, a six-band bender in honor of local scene mainstay Rev. Rob Ruckus, who turns 37 this week. On the bill: The Love Me Nots, The Shiny Things, The Wooly Bandits, The Western Bone Cleavers, The Showgirls and Ruckus’ own The Vermin, who have been known to show a little skin themselves now and again. And hey, when you roll outta bed on Sunday, why not take your kids to see poppy-punk faves MxPx play for free at Zia. Do it, and maybe someday your son or daughter will be the subject of their own limited-edition nude bobblehead! Ruckusfest, July 21, 10 p.m., free. Double Down Saloon, 791-5775. MxPx, July 22, 7 p.m., free. Zia Record Exchange, 735-4942.

2.

Raise your glasses. Celebrate Downtown drinking with the first Thirsty Third Thursday pub crawl! Six bars are coming together to offer this monthly event from 7 to 9 p.m., starting July 19. For only $15, participants receive tickets for a free drink at Hennessey’s, Mickie Finnz, Jillians, Sidebar, Hogs & Heifers and Brass. The imbibing begins at Hennessey’s at 7. 382-4421.

3.

Shake it. Get your groove on with DJ Junior Vasquez and 12 of the “sexiest ever” go-go dancers. Opening set by DJ Morningstar. Saturday July 21 at Krave. Doors open at 10 p.m. 836-0830.

4.

Watch assault. Witness the big fight—Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins vs. Winky Wright. The apex of sports is when the best compete against the best. When the experts are split down the middle in their predictions, and when the question of who has to lose becomes as enticing as who is going to win, that’s the type of event you want to see. Here are two of the best fighters today, two future hall-of-famers, two super egos—and on Saturday one of them has to lose. July 21, 6 p.m., at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, $100-$850. 632-7580.

5.

Get some local culture. The Las Vegas Art Museum’s 56th Annual Art Roundup Juried Exhibition, opening July 26 at 6:30 p.m., and Four Easy Pieces, a new exhibit by local artist David Sanchez Burr and Berlin artist Jens Luestraeten running through July 30 at UNLV’s Donna Beam Gallery, both showcase the unique talents and the international appeal of the Valley’s art scene. With a wide array of subject matter and total spontaneity, the off-Downtown exhibits breathe some more life into the diverse art scene by spreading the artistic love around for two of our city’s finest galleries. Check out donnabeamgallery.unlv.edu and www.lasvegasartmuseum.org.

6.

Choose to be, instead of not to be. Hamlet, Prince of Denmark opens at the Onyx Theatre July 20th. This time, Hamlet is female—actress Katrina Larsen takes on the role of the troubled prince. That in itself is reason to go! July 20-August 18 at the Onyx Theatre, 953 E. Sahara Ave. in Commercial Center. Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with two Sunday matinees on July 28, August 4 and August 11. Tickets $15. 732-7225 for tickets, or contact [email protected].
