BEYOND THE ROPE: Jeremy Greenup

Jimmy Greenup

Hometown: Sterling Heights, Michigan Age: 29 Profession: Mood director, Tao Nightclub Profile: With his wild, blond hair and seemingly inexhaustible collection of plaid pants, wiry Jimmy Greenup is Tao’s dancing, singing, shot-downing, sparkler-wielding live mascot. A natural ombudsman and ambassador of vibe, he creates excitement wherever he goes. Look for his enigmatic costumed Sandstorm performances every Saturday night at 3 a.m. on the catwalk. You can’t possibly miss him. Why I Do What I Do: “I honestly believe this is what I was born to do. Mood directing is my destiny. It has consumed my life. I make a living being myself. I get paid to get nuts in a dance club every night. And I love it.” Personal Tidbit: Prior to moving to Vegas, Greenup worked as a physical education teacher with “at risk” children in California. He loves working with kids and making an impact in their lives, something he’s been doing since the age of 16. A bit of a big kid himself, Greenup says he may be 29, but he feels about 10. Last CD purchased: Global Underground 30: Taipei, by Dubfire of Deep Dish Latest Accomplishment: Though he hasn’t quite accomplished it yet, Greenup says he spends so much time at Tao he might as well live there. Don’t be surprised to someday see him taking up permanent residence at Tao Beach. Says Jimmy, “That would be sick.” Quote: “They say you only live once. But when you’ve lived like me, once is enough.” – Frank Sinatra
