Dream Zone for week of June 7-13, 2007

Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I dreamed a friend and I were driving down a long straight road that went on forever. He was driving. Suddenly, a white car collided head-on with our car. I remember calling out to my friend saying it was okay. Next thing I remember my mind was being separated from my body. I awoke immediately at this point.

Lauri: Your friend is driving, which means this is about something he is in more control of in waking life. Is your relationship like the road: long, unchanging, no “twists or turns,” no drama? Are you unsure of where your friendship is headed? The fact that the other car is white is significant as it refers to new beginnings. The head-on collision means some idea or mode of thinking has come out of nowhere, which may change the direction you’re headed. You also seem to die in this dream, which could be the death of your friendship, so that the two of you can go down a more romantic road. It seems you’re worried it could become a “wreck.” But you also answer your own fears by saying, “It’s okay.”

Beth replies: You’re good! We’ve been friends since college. I saw him last Friday (before my dream). We talked for hours. He’s someone I’m comfortable being with, and maybe a little attracted to. Deep down, I would like to see something more come out of this relationship. This is where your interpretation hits home. He is in control, since I can’t tell if he wants more.
