Hawaiian-fusion joint Roy's hosted this afternoon's filmmaker's luncheon, featuring an appearance by fest chairman Dennis Hopper and obscene amounts of coffee consumption. Following freshly-showered artistic director Trevor Groth's welcoming remarks, guests discussed digital versus film, shorts versus features, Soderbergh versus Tarantino and Peter Jackson's endorsement of Oakley sunglasses founder Jim Jannard's Red One digital camera. Taking a break from making the rounds, associate director of programming Mike Plante offered up Look, All God's Children Can Dance and Viva as the buzz-worthiest flicks thus far. - Julie Seabaugh
