The Tropicana Cinemas are back up and running under new ownership. They no longer offer $1.50 movies, but with their $10 ticket price (after 5:30), you do get all the popcorn and soda you can possibly stomach.

But more importantly, they’re bringing back The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturdays at midnight, beginning June 16.It will be the first time RHPS (put on by Frankie’s Favorite Obsession, which is something that must be qualified in this town, since there is more than one RHPS group) has set foot in the theaters since its old new ownership set up shop in 2005. Ever since, the wayward group has kept the show going off and on at different spots around town.“Whenever we have downtime we still get together and get people ready for new parts or fix up costumes,” says cast leader Steve VanMeter. “So that when we do get a new venue, which we always do, we’re ready to go.”
