Yesterday at the Shorts One screening (I'll have more on the shorts programs in the next day or two) I saw an excellent little thriller called The Hunter, starring Joel Garland. Today at the screening of Rocket Science, a pretty high-profile movie about to get national distribution from Picturehouse, there was Garland again, this time in a two-line role as a clerk at a pizza place. From his IMDb page, you can tell he works a lot in small parts as police officers and manual laborers, but that short was a nice showcase for his talents as a leading man. The next day, he was back to toiling in the service industry. - Josh Bell
