Meet Your Local Comic, Volume 1: Brandon Muller, Brandt Tobler, John Hilder and Honour Pillow

Your local comic: Brandon Muller

Hometown: Hesperia, CA

Day job: Valet

How long been performing: 3.5 years

Favorite comic(s): Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, Demetri Martin

Self-described style: I strive to make my jokes unrelatable to the audience by staying true to myself.

Signature bit: Many would say the one about cuss words, but I vote for the one about sun-dried raisins that I'll write in 2009.

Career highlight: When Norm MacDonald told me I had "great stuff" and should move to LA.

Worst gig ever: The second time I ever did stand up was an amateur contest at the Comedy Stop where I shook the mic uncontrollably for five minutes while the audience stared in silence as I recited what I thought was a "killer" routine.

In the works: Short little videos to travel across the Internet and into the hearts of dozens.

Where to find (clubs/nights): Usually Boomers on Sunday nights or when I occasionally update the calendar on my website.

Where to find (on the Web): www.brandonmuller.com

Your local comic: Brandt Tobler (aka Deming Miller)

Hometown: Cheyenne, Wyoming

Day job: Judge Judy watcher and Oprah hater

How long been performing: About 3 years

Favorite comic(s): Myself ( I am terrific), Zach Galifianakis, Demetri Martin, Brody Stevens, and my all time favorite is Mitch Hedberg.

Self-described style: I am told I am the Snoop Dogg of Comedy. I am just up there getting wasted and performing in a real laid-back manner. I just chill and drop jokes like they’re HOT!!!

Signature bit: I have a once-you-go-black-you-never-go-back bit I do quite often. I have a lot of one-liners that I lump together in a bit I call “Super Funny One-Liners Coming Atcha!!!”

Career highlight: Getting second in every comedy competition I enter. I can never win...and opening for Kingtamer at Boomers’ Easter Day show.

Worst gig ever: Every Wednesday at The Bunkhouse, performing for people from the hostel that don't speak English.

In the works: Got something that I think will be huge on YouTube and the national media, but gotta keep it quiet ‘cause it will be a surprise. Plan on moving to Hollywood by the end of the year to really pursue this stand-up dream.

Where to find (clubs/nights): Monday at Pounders, Thursday at The Downstairs Bar and Sunday at Boomers. I will also be in Die Trying shows and Nathan Lund’s Wild Show in Boulder City at the end of the month.

Where to find (on the Web): On www.myspace/brandtx as Captain Banana, and my website, www.ijokeulaugh.com, is being built right this very minute.

Your local comic: John Dawson Hilder (Yes, my middle name is Dawson. Go ahead and be the 412th person to make a crappy Dawson's Creek joke)

Hometown: Salt Lake City, UT. No, I'm not a Mormon, but thank you for asking in your head.

Day job: A REALLY bad accountant.

How long been performing: I really hate calling what I do performing, but I have been telling jokes for about two and half years.

Favorite comic(s): Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope, Daniel Tosh, Zach Galifianakis.

Self-described style: Dork. I'm a huge dork and I hope that comes through in my comedy. I don't want to give people any delusions about me being anything other than a massive dork.

Signature bit: I have so many! There's the one where I come off as racist, then the one where I come off as sexist, and of course the one where I come off as both.

Career highlight: It's depressing that to figure this out I had to sift through hundreds of open-mic shows that I've done and pick out the best one. Actually, my highlight is a contest I did in Utah in 2005. I took 19th place out of 24 comics, but they were all pros so I felt good beating any of them.

Worst gig ever: Every time I think I have a gig that takes the cake as the worst ever, a new one comes along and blows the old one out of the water. I'm a firm believer that if you can get laughs in Vegas, you can get laughs ANYWHERE.

In the works: World domination. I'm so close! Curing all major diseases, except for herpes. I think the world needs herpes.

Where to find (clubs/nights): Basically any night there is a local show in this town, I will be there. Telling jokes for seven drunk people is an addiction I just can't kick. Specific nights and places are:

Sunday- Boomer's Humors, 8:00 PM, 3200 Sirius Ave.

Monday- Pounder's, 9:30 PM, on Sahara just west of the Strip.

Wednesday- Bunkhouse Saloon, 8:00 PM, 124 S. 11th St. I host this one.

Where to find (on the Web): I'm a conformist, so I'm on MySpace at www.myspace.com/johnhilder, and also at my truly subpar website www.johnhilder.com. Do yourself a favor and just go to the MySpace page.

Your local comic: Honour Pillow (real name)

Hometown: Addyston, Ohio

Day job: What, you think a professional comedianne like me needs a day job?? You're right...makeup artist

How long been performing: 5 years

Favorite comic(s): Bill Cosby. I love him because when my Dad's not drinking beer and cussin' he reminds me of Bill Cosby. They even have the same sweater collection!

Self-described style: An explosion of ridiculousness which touches on family, sex, transgenderdness(?), relationships and, occasionally, myself. Then I sing a song about having small breasts called "Big Titties."

Signature bit: The "Big Titties" song

Career highlight: Cast for Oxygen's She-Larious, a show looking for the next "female pioneer of comedy." Las Vegas Weekly's "Most Beautiful People!"

Worst gig ever: Ha. Where do I begin. "Gig" would refer to something I was actually paid for. In that case it would have to be "THE HIP HOP COMEDY JAM!!" YEAH! The promoter promised a sold out 300 seat thearter and when I got to the stage there were 280 empty seats except for the 20 people I had invited. That was the funniest part of the show...the rest was very sad.

In the works: The Oxygen show is currently "on hold." The never ending battle to gain support and exposure for the local comedians here in Las Vegas. There is some big talent here if someone would just take notice. A big thanks to Las Vegas Weekly for your continued support.

Where to find (clubs/nights): Well! Only every big time comedy club in Las Vegas!!! Pounder's (Mon & Sat), Boomer's (Sun), The Downstairs Bar (Thurs).

Where to find (on the Web): www.myspace.com/onherpillow
