What did you Goo last summer?

Julie Seabaugh

My name is Julie, er ... Gertrude ... and I have a problem: I love Counting Crows. So much so that I saw 2006’s co-headlining tour with Goo Goo Dolls five times.

That’s five exact same Goos’ setlists; five exact same “Slides,” “Black Balloons,” “Broadways,” “Let Love Ins” and “Give a Little Bits”; five exact same banters from a wooden Johnny Rzeznik concerning an ongoing food drive; five hour-and-15-minute spans spent wishing bassist Robbie Takac were allowed to sing more of their older punk songs; five wife-beaters revealing Rzeznik’s bizarre bicep tattoos.

On the plus side, “Iris” triggered five fond remembrances of 1998’s summer movies (City of Angels, The X Files, Armageddon). But alas, the nostalgia only heightened the five realizations that I need serious help. My name is Gertrude, and I thank you for your understanding.

Goo Goo Dolls with Lifehouse. June 16, 8 p.m., $47-$72.  The Pearl, 474-4000.
