Random Lists: Things born in Vegas this month

A male dolphin calf born to proud parents Duchess and Lightning at the Mirage Dolphin Habitat wasn’t the only thing birthed in our little hamlet lately. Other new arrivals:

• The term “spouse-like relationships.” Conceived by the 21st century and the university system, which wanted to cover such relationships with health insurance.  Delivered by the R-J.  Cursed by homo-disapprover Richard Ziser.

• A rap inspired by the fall of Don Imus. Born to the cast of The Second City—Las Vegas as it begins its sixth season at the Flamingo. The rap was reportedly born with a full, nappy head of hair.

• Many unsettling flashbacks of Who’s the Boss? and Taxi. Conceived by the producers of The Producers, who cast  Tony Danza as Max Bialystock for the Vegas show. Says creator Mel Brooks, “He’s irresistable.”

• An above-national-average unemployment rate, called 4.6 percent. Born to all Nevadans,  surpassing the national rate for the first time in 5 years.

Up for adoption:

• Thirty Mustang horses and 10 burros.  Made orphans by overpopulation, fire  and drought, these wild animals will be offered June 22 and 23 by the BLM at Horseman’s park.  www.blm.gov.
