MASH-UP

L. Lo is a no-go
“We think the world of her and look forward to working with her in the future.”
–In a statement issued on Monday, June 18, Pure expressed regret at having to cancel Lindsay Lohan’s monumental 21st birthday bash “due to unique circumstances.”

Viva Mas Vegas

Dedicated to all things house, Viva Mas Vegas this June 29 will keep Triq Nightclub going until 8 a.m. Pulled together by the musical promotions trifecta of John Tobin (aka DJ John Vegas and Weekly employee) and his Tru House Presents, the House Society and Viva Agency Group, more than 10 DJs will be in on the early morning party, along with performance artists, live percussionists and holistic therapists (alternative clinicians specializing in reflexology and therapeutic massage). Spinning live sets at the massive turntable event will be Johnny Fiasco, Jon Lemmon, Matthew Bandy, Jason Merle, Marc George, Sky Ortiz, Lost Boys and Backstage residents Keith Evan and Carlos Sanchez.

Making sure the sounds go the distance, Future Sound 91.5 will be there with hosts Chad Martinez and Johnny Vibe broadcasting at www.oseao.com.

The party will also benefit the homeless of Nevada, hence, a house party.

Raw is right

All-you-can-eat sushi is becoming a Vegas staple. So the flesh-minded brain trust over at Men’s Club decided to incorporate another Sin City trademark by starting up their new event Naked Sushi. Every Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. inside the aptly named Raw Bar, nipples and nigiri unite as nature probably never intended but always dreamed, with the sultry entertainers providing eye candy around the neverending well of fresh fish. The price rivals any other establishment in town—just under $20—but we have a feeling tipping will go beyond the sushi chef.

Of course sake bombs will be free-flowing, and when it’s time for some after-dinner digestion, take a load off in the main room. The promotion overlaps with happy hour, where drinks are two-for-one every day from 4 to 7 p.m.

Hydrate with X20

A serious party is the next logical step with the Flamingo Pool rebranding itself as the Go Pool; it already began European-style bathing to complement the poolside gaming. Hopping on the adult swim bandwagon, on June 29 the Go Pool will introduce X20, a pool party with the sultry show gals from X Burlesque hosting, along with porn star Sunset Thomas, finally taking advantage of the great space. The Flam team has said this is a one-time promotion. But we’ve heard if it shows any signs of success it will turn into a recurring weekly event.

The all-ages Lagoon Pool down below will keep its Friday and Saturday daytime bash, but X20 will start at 10 p.m. and will be more like a nightclub anyway, something the property is desperately missing. With an enforced “club attire” dress code, it seems as though that is exactly what they are aiming for. An illuminated floating dance floor will be in the middle of the pool, and a performance stage for the X girls will be set up so they can strut their stuff. DJ Shorty will spin, and a handful of celebrity guests are expected. There will be a $20 cover for men, and, of course, all ladies are free.

Platinum rocks

Always finding new ways to entice oenophiles back for more fermented indulgence, Rock ’n’ Roll Wine has teamed up with the Platinum Hotel & Spa, flooding three floors with vino in a progressive wine party that will leave you wondering which way is up. No worries, though—the hotel is offering special rates for the night, and even the prodigious Solitaire Suites are up for grabs at just $159.

It begins with bubbly on the rooftop terrace and then journeys to the fifth-floor pool for world wines and live acoustic sets by Jeremy Cornwell. As things move down, the party picks up, as the last bottle bender on the tour is on the first-floor lounge, Stir, with the dessert wines. The cost of tasting on all three floors is only $30 if you prepay. RSVP at www.rocknrollwine.com.

Quid pro cocktail

Giving another worthy excuse to wander into that neck of the carousing woods, Michael Cornthwaite’s Downtown Cocktail Room has now started its new Thursday promo, LoPro, where the chic space allows local professionals to mingle at a mixer complemented by the mixing of drinks. Lubing up the social juice from 4 to 7 p.m. will be a variety of discounted libations.

Fire up the bagpipes

It’s always a sad day when we have to say goodbye to an Irish pub, something Las Vegas has far too few of anyway. The fabulous Guinness-fueled Fadó at Green Valley Ranch will shut its doors on June 30—“car bombs” are in order to soothe the loss. However, we have heard the grand watering hole will reopen in September in a new spot, not too far away.
