Post-the post-hardcore intensity of their two EPs and some major personnel changes, these perennial Next Big Things go melodic and mainstream on their 2006 Capitol debut. The quintet’s midtempo singalongs strive for anthemic poignancy, but even the layered vocals ultimately fail to distinguish the quintet from the alt-rock-radio shuffle.
