I dreamed my boyfriend and I were living in a big old theater, the kind with old plush seating, velvet drapes, etc. The main floor was flooded and full of dead goldfish and debris. The rooms upstairs were a filthy mess. I kept trying to clean them, but they kept getting worse. I thought, “Oh no, what a mess,” and then walked away from it. Then my boyfriend and I had a discussion, but I couldn’t hear him. A big wind swept through the house and carried me out of the room.

Lauri: Living in a theater means you are living an “act” ... and—like the theater—it’s starting to get old! The water on the main floor that is full of debris makes me feel you are depressed. Fish often refer to ideas that thrive in our creative juices. Your fish are dead. Are you all out of ideas as to how to handle this relationship? Like the messy upstairs, you’re in quite a mess. When the two of you try to communicate, you are swept away by a powerful wind, i.e. the “winds” of change. Your dream is telling you something’s gotta change or you’re outta there.

Maria replies: I have been depressed. And I think we have both been “acting” to some degree. I feel as though I can’t be who I really am around him. My boyfriend is from a different culture, and this gets in our way a lot. I was joking to myself the other day saying that we no longer have “oneness”—we have “one mess”!
