Three questions with Democratic Senator Dina Titus, author of proposed legislative bill 241, which, if passed, would provide to people who buy hybrid cars the incentive of waived license plate, registration and title fees.

What would those savings equate to for the potential hybrid owner?

 About $50 ... It’s just a small thank you.

Would the passage of this bill alone save our environment?

Oh no. It’s just a  small piece. I have several other bills aimed at environmental protection—one to regulate greenhouse emissions, one to promote renewable energy.

What’s the bill’s status right now?

We have some opposition. People agree with the concept, but with the $3.8 billion shortfall in the highway fund, it’s a money thing. It’s sitting in committee. We should know its outcome in the next two weeks.
