Cocktail of the Week

Cotton Candy Martini
$12, Lucky Strike Lanes,
The Rio

Justin Jimenez

A while back, a candy corporation approached an unlikely business partner, Pure Management Group, insisting that Pure nightclub should sell cotton candy with its bottle service. PMG didn’t go for it.

However, Frank Tucker, the group’s resident mixologist, saw possibilities for the fluffy treat. With the company’s newest venue, Lucky Strike Lanes, opening at the Rio, he was looking for something not found on any cocktail menu in the country. Focusing on the cotton candy, he and his drink think-tank came up with one of the most distinctive cocktails in the city. Offering three flavors—raspberry, lemon and apple—the dollop of cotton candy joins Grey Goose, rock candy syrup and the corresponding flavor, and is then shaken and poured, the velvety treat dissolving into the drink.

We asked about the possibility of a funnel cake shooter, but Tucker declined to comment.
