Fishbone

Still Stuck in Your Throat 3 1/2 stars

Fishbone’s ninth album of infused ska, punk and dancehall reggae is funky enough to keep your butt a-shakin’. Still Stuck shows that, nearly 30 years into the two-tone masters’ career, they can still skank it up with the kids.

Girl in a Coma

Both Before I’m Gone 3 stars

Listening to Girl in a Coma’s debut LP, it’s easy to hear why Joan Jett scooped up these three San Antonio ladies for her Blackheart Records imprint: Singer Nina Diaz pulls off Yeah Yeah Yeahsy garage-punk swagger and Chrissie Hynde-esque melodic yearning with equal flair. There’s room for improved songwriting, but this Girl is off to a promising start. –SP
