DREAM ZONE WITH LAURI QUINN LOEWENBERG

Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

In my dream it was nighttime, and I was trying to fake my disappearance. I allowed myself to fall into a lake of black water. I went down and came up riding a wave that almost threw me into wall.

–Stephanie, 52, Nashville, TN

Lauri: Have you been feeling “dark” and depressed lately? Or are you “in the dark” about something? Is there something happening in your life that you wish would go away or disappear? Falling into black water concerns me that you may be “falling” into a depression.  And the wall suggests that you’re not allowing yourself to move forward from your situation. Most likely, this is an emotional wall that you have built in order to protect yourself from getting hurt. It is something you built and therefore is something you need to tear down so that you can rise above and move on from this darkness.

Stephanie replies: Your interpretation is right on. I have been struggling in a work situation that has been overwhelming for the past four years. I have been feeling like it’s time to move on to something else but haven’t a clue as to how. Sometimes I feel like I just want the pressure and stress of too much to do to go away (disappear). I feel stuck. I can tell when I’m slipping toward depression because my immediate surroundings become cluttered and disorganized ... like now. Maybe the “wall” is fear of risking change.
