Oracle Bob How well does Dylan get America?

Let’s keyword-search his lyrics at bobdylan.com!

Mentions of: pirates—2*; Caribbean—1; at world’s end—“query error: Please use only alphanumeric characters in search query”; Depp—0; Orlando—0; ridiculous box office—0; Disney—0; Keith Richards—0; Davy Jones—0.

*While it seems that the Wise One completely whiffs on the significance of cultural productions based on Disney rides, look more closely. In the song “Jim Jones,” one of the two in which he mentions pirates, Dylan also sings this: “But take a tip before you ship/to join the iron gang/don’t get too gay in Botany Bay/or else you’ll surely hang.” Too gay in Botany Bay! Hanging! Doesn’t that pretty much sum up the first Pirates film? Dylan recorded that song in 1992; the movie came out in 2003. Oracle, indeed.
