Nightlife

Mash-up

Shifting Foundation

The exclusive House of Blues hangout is still just as snazzy as it always has been for those lucky card-carrying members, but Foundation Room’s Monday night party, Godspeed, hasn’t been experiencing the long lines we all remember. Mandalay Mondays came and went, and more parties seem to keep landing on the day, which could be a couple of the reasons for light patronage. Making some interesting moves and hoping to pump some life back into the night, HOB has brought on well-known—if not infamous—promoter John D. Guzman (remember G-Spot at Club Rio? Neither do we) to stir up some action. Guzman has had some success on the Strip; he’s known for his Naked Hollywood nights at Ra some years back, as well as some negative press during his reign at C2K. His entourage from A-List Entertainment will also follow him in, so keep an eye out for a change of pace on the 43rd floor.

Rehab season passes to go

Ever miss that tin lunch box? Whether it was Transformers or My Little Pony, our midday meal was always something to look to forward to. Our boys over at the Hard Rock have resurrected the juvenile to-go kit, but this time with an adults-only flair. The Rehab Lunch Box is apparently the new It accessory, and whether it’s a poolside break or time for Sunday School (at Body English), you are getting a lot more than a PB&J.

At a cool $1,200, the box itself is just the start. The price grants you and two guests entry to Rehab with no wait or cover every Sunday for the rest of the season. Included in the case is an Rx ribbed tank, Rx lip balm, Rx sunscreen, an Rx wristband, Rx condoms, an Rx mirror and an Rx luggage tag. Mind you, the lunch box is stainless steel as well, so you don’t have to worry when your thermos of gin and tonic leaks. Growing up is fun.

Get wet

Will there be a pool party backlash? We don’t think so. They continue to crop up everywhere, and any excuse is a good one to be out at the pool during the week. Sunset Station has our latest installment of evening poolside entertainment with Summerfest at Sunset every Friday. The cover is just $7, and the first drink is free. Again: free drink.

Taking advantage of the hot nights and their name, the party starts appropriately at sunset. From 6-10 p.m. a DJ will be there to keep you company, and a different tribute band will be featured each week. Up first, on June 8, is Pyromania, paying homage to Def Leppard; The Original Kiss Army is on June 15; and while it’s great for online movie tickets, who knew Fandango was also a top-shelf ZZ Top tribute band? They take the stage June 22. Cabana rentals are reasonable in comparison to the Strip, but adding to the package is a drawing for a trip for two to Hawaii. Okay, we don’t really care about Hawaii—where’s the free drink?

In the zone

There is no party more bittersweet in a man’s life that the bachelor party. Great times, good friends and the last day of his life where accountability is optional. Melding the best of all things testosterone, ESPN Zone has opened up a new VIP party space; the ESPN Radio Room is now open to the public and ready for debauchery. Originally reserved for the on-air big wigs, the private room could be a dude’s paradise when it comes to celebrating that last day of being able to wear mismatched socks. In addition to your private wait staff, there are also three large plasma HD televisions, and the party crew also has front row seats to the Las Vegas Strip via the New York-New York hotel. And just in case you are feeling the need to broadcast anything after that fifth Coors Light, the room is still HD-radio-equipped when it’s time to go on-air with the party.

A Cherry on top

Already moving fast after the ownership shift, Cherry has rebranded Thursdays as L80s night and is already doing well. Thursdays, ladies, you will not only get a full dose of the B-52’s, but a free glass of champagne on arrival as well. All just in time for the season opening of the Cherry Sunday pool party splashing down June 3.

Triple-header

We are already jazzed to check out Tuesdays at Moon starting June 5, but then add in the Ocean’s 13 official after-party up there the night after, and also CineVegas kicking off June 6—we might just have to get a room.
